Dreame X50 Ultra: $359 (Original price: $449)
The Dreame X50 Ultra still holds our Editors’ Choice award for being a versatile robot vacuum. It’s also a lab test winner, excelling in performance across the major categories we test. It had one of the best hardwood floor cleaning capabilities we’ve seen, picking up 98.54% of sand from hard flooring. It also has excellent obstacle avoidance, with a room-cleaning coverage of 83.8%, meaning it misses very few spots.
Like many other high-end robot vacuums, it also has mopping capabilities. Our lab engineer tested it at home, trying out its functions on his 1,200-square-foot main floor. He was impressed by its ability to map the main level in 11 minutes and it cleaned the entire floor in just over two hours. Notably, it also worked great in his household with a Great Pyrenees, with the brushroll never tangling from hair and effectively avoiding pets.
“One key feature that stood out was the tangle-free roller,” said CNET’s former technical project manager, Jared Hannah. “In my home test, comparing the Dreame X50 to my older Roborock Q5 after cleaning a large area rug, the difference was striking. The Roborock was clogged with hair, while the Dreame’s roller was completely clean. This is a massive advantage over competitors, which often struggle with pet hair. This is another one of my big tests — I call it my ‘Great Pyrenees challenge’ — and the Dreame X50 passed with flying colors.”
It was also one of the first robot vacuums to offer the ability to climb stairs (well, thresholds) by deploying a pair of small legs to lever itself up over gaps of 2.36 inches. That’s not as impressive compared to truly stair-climbing robots like the Roborock Saros Rover, but unlike the Rover, you can actually buy the Dreame X50 Ultra right now and use it in your home.
The $808 price brings the X50 Ultra down to its 90-day low on Amazon, according to Keepa, and it’s close to the historic $800 low we saw during holiday sales. The deal applies to both color options.
