These Prime Day SSD Deals From Samsung, WD and More Might Be the Solution to Your Storage Woes

It’s a fact of computing life that you’ll never quite have enough storage. But good storage isn’t just about storing bits and bytes; it’s about accessing data as quickly as possible, and for that, you’re going to need an SSD. The bad news is that SSD storage prices have been on the rise of late. The good news? Amazon Prime Day is now less than a week away, kicking off June 23, and CNET’s team of intrepid deal hunters is already on the case.

I’ve put together a list of the best Prime Day SSD deals that are already live, and the team and I will update it regularly so you don’t miss a thing. With a few days still to go before Prime Day officially kicks off, there is plenty of time for more deals to come. Be sure to check back regularly if you don’t see the right SSD deal for you just yet.

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

Best June Prime Day SSD Deals

Samsung 990 Pro SSD (2TB): $370

The go-to choice for professionals, this SSD sports a large 2TB capacity and still manages incredible read/write speeds of up to 7,450MB/s. It even comes with preinstalled heatsinks to keep it cool.

WD_Black SN7100 NVMe SSD (1TB): $210

If 1TB is all you need, it’s hard to look past the WD_Black SN7100. With read and write speeds up to 7,250MB/s and 6900MB/s, respectively, it’s no slouch and the perfect place to store files large and small.

Kingston Fury Renegate G5 NVMe SSD (2TB): $645

Designed specifically for gamers, Kingston equipped this SSD with read and write speeds up to 14,800MB/s for ultra-fast load times. The built-in heatsink should also ensure you enjoy peak performance even when playing the most demanding games.

Samsung T7 Portable SSD (2TB): $360

Portable SSDs are a great way to take your data with you wherever you go, and the Samsung T7 is one of the very best. With read and write speeds of up to 1,050MB/s and 1,000MB/s respectively, it’s a great option if you work with media files on the road.

Seagate Xbox Storage Expansion Card (2TB): $270

Expand your Xbox’s storage by an extra 2TB with this handy little SSD. It plugs straight into the console via a dedicated port, and loading games from this SSD is just as fast as it is from the built-in storage.

Why are SSD’s so expensive right now?

You might find that SSD deal prices aren’t any lower (or even higher) than they used to be. Unfortunately, that’s to be expected. A global chip shortage continues to affect the price of computer components, especially RAM and storage, That means that prices have increased considerably in recent weeks. The deals available during Prime Day may simply bring them back down to, or at least closer to, their pre-shortage prices. Memory and chip suppliers don’t expect the shortages to improve any time soon, so these deals may represent the best prices we see for a while.

When is the June Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day begins on June 23 and runs through June 26, 2026. That’s a month earlier than the usual July Prime Day, which means you can save on a range of deals a few weeks earlier. In fact, some early Amazon Prime Day deals can be found in the weeks running up to the big day, and retailers like Walmart and Best Buy are already gearing up with deals of their own to match Amazon’s sales event.

Should you wait for Prime Day before buying anything?

You don’t have to wait until Prime Day to find a deal. There are already some big savings to be found across the Amazon store. But if you don’t see the deal that’s right for you just yet, it’s definitely worth waiting a couple of weeks to see what Prime Day brings. The biggest deals are likely to be on TVs, laptops, e-bikes and vacuums (especially robo vacs), as well as power stations and grills for the outdoors. We recommend waiting for a deal if you’re shopping in those categories today.
