With more photos, videos and data than ever, you might find yourself running out of storage space on just about every device you own. That’s where SSDs come in, as they help expand storage space on your devices. SSD prices have been rising lately, but you don’t have to overspend to back up your important files. Amazon’s Prime Day is bringing the bargains on all sorts of top tech, including great SSD deals that you can shop right now.

Good storage isn’t just about storing bits and bytes; it’s also about accessing data as quickly as possible. This is where having a high-quality SSD really makes a difference, and Amazon offers top-rated brands.

This story is part of Amazon Prime Day, CNET’s guide to everything you need to know and how to find the best deals.

I’ve put together a list of the best Prime Day SSD deals that you can shop this week. I’ll be updating this list throughout the sale, so be sure to check back regularly if you don’t see the right SSD deal for you just yet.

Best Prime Day SSD Deals

Samsung 990 Pro SSD (2TB)

The go-to choice for professionals, this SSD offers a large 2TB capacity and delivers incredible read/write speeds of up to 7,450 MB/s. It comes with preinstalled heatsinks to keep it cool.

WD Black SN7100 NVMe SSD (1TB)

If 1TB is all you need, it’s hard to look past the WD Black SN7100. With read and write speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and 6,900 MB/s, respectively, it’s no slouch and the perfect place to store files large and small.

Kingston Fury Renegate G5 NVMe SSD (2TB)

Designed specifically for gamers, Kingston built this SSD with read and write speeds up to 14,800MBps for ultrafast load times. The built-in heatsink also ensures you enjoy peak performance even when playing the most demanding games.

Samsung T7 Portable SSD (2TB)

Portable SSDs are a great way to take your data with you wherever you go, and the Samsung T7 is one of the very best. With read and write speeds of up to 1,050 MBps and 1,000 MBps respectively, it’s a great option if you work with media files on the road. The deal is only active on the black or blue color.

Seagate Xbox Storage Expansion Card (2TB)

Expand your Xbox’s storage by an extra 2TB with this handy little SSD. It plugs straight into the console via a dedicated port, and loading games from this SSD is just as fast as it is from the built-in storage.

  • WD Black 1TB SN850X: $250 (Save $87). This drive uses Western Digital’s 3D NAND tech so that you can store tons of games — anywhere from 1TB to a massive 8TB.

Why are SSDs so expensive right now?

You might find that SSD deal prices are higher than they used to be. A global chip shortage continues to affect the price of computer components, especially RAM and storage. That means that prices have increased considerably in recent months. The deals available during Prime Day may simply bring them back down to, or at least closer to, their pre-shortage prices. Memory and chip suppliers don’t expect the shortages to improve any time soon, so these deals may represent the best prices we see for a while.

When is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day began on June 23 and runs through June 26. That’s a month earlier than the usual July Prime Day, which means you can save on a range of deals a few weeks earlier. Since Amazon Prime Day is live now, there are tons of deals that you can take advantage of right now, including these SSD deals. Retailers like Walmart and Best Buy have also dropped deals to match Amazon’s sales event.

What is on sale for Prime Day?

There are big savings to be found across the Amazon store. The biggest deals are likely to be on TVs, laptops, e-bikes and vacuums (especially robo vacs).
