Save $54: Prime Day is here, and if you’ve been wanting to add a smart lock to your home security arsenal, the Level Lock Pro, my favorite compact model, is down to $295.
Smart locks are packed with handy features, but one thing most people don’t want is a blocky wedge or jutting retrofit taking up a ton of space at their door. That’s a problem for almost every smart lock, but Level is my favorite brand that’s solved it, and now you can get its fancy lock for 15% off on Amazon Prime Day.
If people don’t have any budget concerns, I recommend the Level Lock Pro nearly every time, especially for Apple fans with its smooth compatibility with Apple Home Keys. But this pricey lock is now far more in reach if you’re looking for a high-end upgrade, available at under $300.
The Pro version hides all its tech inside a normal-sized deadbolt, and even after thoroughly testing it, I’m not totally sure how Level did it. The batteries slide in beside the deadbolt to save space, and the company ditched Wi-Fi support so you will need a Matter-compatible hub (like a HomePod, Echo Show, Apple TV, Nest Hub and so on) or Level’s own Connect hub ($79).
The result is a lock that people won’t even know has smart features until you pull out your phone to open the door or give them a Home Key for guest use. The Lock Pro also works with Google Home and Alexa if you prefer those apps. That compact design also means the lock is rated BHMA Grade 3 for durability, higher than most smart locks I’ve tested and the highest grade possible for typical residential locks.
The lock even manages to sense whether a door is open or closed, something that many smart locks can’t do with a little magnet add-on you stick to your door edge, which I greatly dislike. It’s one more way the Lock Pro flexes its design over the typical model.
PRIME DAY HOME SECURITY DEALS OF THE WEEK
Deals are selected by the CNET Group commerce team, and may be unrelated to this article.
Installation for this lock is only slightly trickier than most smart locks, so you shouldn’t have any trouble DIYing it. Level has also told us that it will be discounting its indoor-friendly Level Bolt deadbolt retrofit for Prime Day, so you should keep an eye on it this week to see if it gets a welcome deal, too.
