Amazon is getting ready for its June Prime Day sales, but it’s getting ahead of the game by offering its Echo Dot Max smart speaker at a new low price, dropping it to just $65. This deal is available in all three colors, but you do need to be an Amazon Prime member to get in on it.
While you might think Prime Day is the time to upgrade your old Echo devices, Amazon is giving you the opportunity to do that for less way before the summer sale kicks off in June.
The Echo Dot Max was released in September of last year and runs on Amazon’s newer AZ3 chip, which enables the upcoming “AI Accelerator” for future Alexa models. Its upgraded microphone array boosts “wake word” detection by up to 50%, making it more responsive across the room. It also features Omnisense technology, allowing routines to trigger based on presence or temperature.
Sound quality is decent for its size, with Amazon claiming nearly three times the bass of the 2022 Echo Dot and better clarity that adapts to your space. In testing, CNET expert Ty Pendlebury noted that while bass levels were balanced, the Dot Max could sound a little thin at times, something to keep in mind if audio richness is your top priority.
