Snapping out of the holiday season and into winter mode could mean you’re looking to watch some free stuff on TV. It’s possible, whether you want to binge-watch movies on a free streaming service or sink into a marathon of TV show classics. One way to do that is with Hoopla’s new SeasonPass, which is available with a library card.

Launched on Tuesday, SeasonPass is granting free access to an entire TV show season for a week, and you can stream without worrying about ads. Choose from 14 titles, including picks from BBC Studios and PBS. Right now, shows like The Librarian are available, and the list will expand in the future.

Hoopla, a digital app that provides access to audiobooks, movies, manga, music, TV series and other content through public libraries, has rolled out SeasonPass as part of its BingePass lineup. If you have a valid library card, you can sign up for a BingePass to watch movies and shows from streaming services like Hallmark Plus, AsianCrush, Curiosity Stream and the anime platform, RetroCrush. Or you can take classes, participate in modules for mental health and mindfulness, do workouts and more. Hoopla content selection rotates throughout the year.

How to sign up for Hoopla’s SeasonPass or BingePass:

You will need a valid library card (and PIN if required) and an active email address. Not all libraries offer Hoopla, so you’ll need to check with your local branch or university to see if it participates. Content is available to borrow for users of all ages.

  • Visit Hoopla’s website or if you’re registering via your TV or other device download the app.
  • Select your local library or university from the drop-down list.
  • Enter your library card information and PIN number. If you don’t have one, you’ll be prompted to sign up for one.
  • Set up your Hoopla account and stream.
  • Browse the app and select BingePass to check out current offerings and SeasonPass.

You can download the Hoopla app for your TV (including Roku) or mobile device from the Google Play store, Apple Store or Amazon Appstore.
