How about that fight scene between Muse and Daredevil in episode 6 of Daredevil: Born Again? The shots of the titular hero duking it out with the serial killer against Fisk’s battering of Adam let us know that the beast is out for each of them — and there’s probably no going back. Season 1 is ramping up for its penultimate episode next week, but episode 7 is sure to bring more damage.
The Marvel series features Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, Jon Bernthal’s Punisher and the original show’s versions of Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll). Executive producer Sana Amanat and executive producer/showrunner Dario Scardapane shared that the new series has a connective thread to the first iteration but is also its own story.
Returning viewers to New York City, Daredevil: Born Again kicked off with a tragic event that affected Murdock’s inner circle and Fisk living out the political ambitions he put into motion at the end of Echo. As crime and street justice increase, friction between Kingpin and Daredevil reignites, a new villain emerges. It is now a battle of the dark sides, inside themselves and in the streets.
According to production notes, both men will have inner conflict. “We had to do parallel paths. Both tried so hard to be something else: ‘I’m Matt Murdock. I’m just a lawyer. I’m not Daredevil anymore.’ ‘I’m Wilson Fisk, mayor of New York City. I’m doing good things for people,'” Scardapane said. “We wanted to bring that tension to a place where they literally can’t sustain it and things start to unravel and explode.”
