With Labor Day giving us an extra day of rest and relaxation this weekend, there’s no better time to binge a new series. This week, streaming platforms including Netflix, Apple TV Plus and Prime Video dropped new shows — some with full seasons, others with a few episodes to start — giving us plenty to binge all weekend.

On Netflix, you can watch the complete second season of My Life With the Walter Boys, out now, and on Prime Video, you can tune in to Upload’s four-episode series finale. Music lovers should definitely tune in to KPopped, the new Apple TV Plus series that’s co-produced by Megan Thee Stallion gives Western pop stars the chance to collab with KPop sensations and put new twists on beloved old tracks. That entire show is out now, too.

If you’re looking for a movie, Netflix released the star-studded The Thursday Murder Club this week, and Paramount Plus has the Eminem-produced Stans, a documentary about obsessive fandom.

These new shows and movies are just a few of the best titles that have arrived this week. Take a look at all our top picks for your long-weekend watch below.

Best TV shows and movies to stream this weekend

Netflix

Netflix

The Thursday Murder Club (Aug. 28)

The Thursday Murder Club is a little like Only Murders In The Building meets A Man On The Inside. The new film, directed by Chris Columbus, stars Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, Ben Kingsley and Celia Imrie as retirees who investigate cold case murders for fun. When a murder occurs at their assisted living facility, the foursome realizes that danger is lurking a little too close to home. In addition to the impressive quartet headlining the film, co-stars also include David Tennant, Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Ackie and Richard E. Grant. It arrived on Netflix on Thursday.

Netflix

My Life With the Walter Boys, Season 2 (Aug. 28)

Netflix’s My Life With the Walter Boys returned for a second season this week with 10 new episodes of the coming-of-age drama. This season, Jackie Howard (Nikki Rodriguez) returns to the Walters’ home after spending a summer in New York City and reevaluates her feelings for Walter brothers Alex (Ashby Gentry) and Cole (Noah LaLonde). The series is based on the book of the same name by Ali Novak.

Upload, Season 4 (Aug. 25)

Prime Video’s Upload is a sci-fi comedy series from Greg Daniels, co-creator of The Office and Parks and Recreation, where people don’t die, their consciousnesses are just uploaded to the cloud when their bodies stop working — a privilege only available to those who can afford to pay for it. The series, which stars Robbie Amell, Andy Allo, Kevin Bigley and Allegra Edwards, just dropped a four-part series finale on Prime Video on Aug. 25.

Prime Video/Justin Lupin

The Terminal List (Aug. 27)

The Terminal List: Dark Wolf is both the second season of the 2022 series The Terminal List as well as a prequel that provides an origin story to the show’s main character, Ben Edwards (played by Taylor Kitsch). An espionage-filled action-thriller, the show depicts Edwards’ journey from Navy SEAL to CIA paramilitary operator. The show also co-stars Chris Pratt, Antoine Fuqua, Tom Hopper and Luke Hemsworth. The first three episodes of the new season dropped on Wednesday, Aug. 27, and new episodes will arrive weekly.

Paramount Plus

MTV Entertainment

Eminem’s song “Stan” coined the term we now use to describe a megafan, and the new documentary Stans, produced by the rapper, explores the complicated relationship between the artist and his fans. The film arrived on Paramount Plus on Aug. 26.

Apple TV Plus

Apple TV Plus

In the new Apple TV Plus show KPopped, major Western pop stars including Megan Thee Stallion, Ava Max, Mel B and Emma Bunton team up with top K-pop acts to give their biggest hit singles a K-pop twist. The eight-episode series, which stars Gangnam Style singer Psy and is executive produced by Megan Thee Stallion, drops all at once this Friday.
