Between Feb. 20 and March 12, 2025, ADT is offering a Nest device deal unlike anything I’ve seen them do before. If you’re a new customer purchasing a security system, you can get two free (usually expensive) home security devices, including Google Nest cameras and their powerful AI features.
New buyers adopting an ADT system will have two choices: They can get a free Google Nest Doorbell and a Google Nest Cam, or they can choose a Google Nest Doorbell and a Yale Smart Lock without paying extra for these devices.
The Nest Doorbell and Yale Smart Lock combo is particularly compelling because of ADT’s Trusted Neighbor system, which uses Google’s facial recognition technology to allow you to label friendly faces. The system can then automatically unlock the front door if it recognizes a family member or friend approaching who has the right privileges. Note this tech is blocked in some areas, like the city of Portland, Oregon and the state of Illinois.
In my ADT Plus 2024 review, I noted that the Google Nest integration is the strongest factor ADT has in its favor right now, and said, “ADT Plus doesn’t seem like a security system from a 150-year dinosaur. It feels like a modern smart home system eager to embrace the latest AI functions and advance into new areas like the personal profiles of its Trusted Neighbor system. DIY installations are accessible, the app looks better than it ever has, and the sensors prove quite dependable.”
However, I also noted that some ADT pricing issues remain, and this impressive deal does come with the usual caveats — in other words, you’ll have to spend some money to get free stuff. First, you’ll need at least a 36-month monitoring contract which starts at $50 per month (but usually ends up higher with various add-ons), or a self-setup system starts at $40 for at least one month.
Second, the system you buy needs to be either at least $599 for a pro-installed version or $270 for the self-installed option. Also, the system you pick must work with the Trusted Neighbor features ADT is offering. You can read all the lengthy fine print here.
While some contract requirements exist, this deal is very good for Google Nest fans willing to do a self-setup option for their ADT system and pay at least $40 per month. Keep in mind, ADT’s latest system includes options like motion sensors, window/door sensors, smoke detectors, leak detectors and other devices for lots of protection options. Since the deal only lasts a few weeks, look into it early if you’re serious about a security system.
On that note, now is a great time to compare our best DIY home security systems and best security systems overall.
