More than 12,000 cartons of Walmart Great Value chicken broth have been recalled that were sold in several states, the Food and Drug Administration has announced.
The broth was recalled amid “packaging failures,” which the FDA says “could compromise the sterility of the product, resulting in spoilage.”
Although the FDA’s announcement says the broth was sold in only two states, a spokesperson for Walmart told USA Today this week that the now-recalled broth was distributed to the following states:
- Arkansas
- Georgia
- Louisiana
- Missouri
- Mississippi
- Oklahoma
- Tennessee
- Texas
The products have since been removed from the shelves of Walmart stores, but the recalled product could still be in consumers’ homes. The 48-ounce chicken broth has a best by date of March 25, 2026, and the lot code (typically found by the best by date or bar code on the product) is 98F09234. You should not consume the chicken broth if it’s on the recall list.
According to the FDA, the broth was recalled by manufacturer TreeHouse Foods, which previously recalled hundreds of frozen waffle and pancake products from various stores, including Walmart, across the US.
