Traeger has been making pellet grills and smokers for nearly 40 years now, and while its products are always high quality, they’re often priced in the thousands. On Thursday, the company announced a new range of grills to meet the growing demand for affordable smokers. Called the Woodridge series, these grills offer the latest smart technology and Traeger quality without the larger price tag.
The series has three entries, the Woodridge ($799), Woodridge Pro ($999) and Woodridge Elite ($1,599). The Woodridge series uses Traeger’s WiFire technology to connect to your phone to help you keep an eye on the temperature inside your grill as well as the level of your pellet hopper. The app, meanwhile, contains recipes to help you decide what to smoke.
Each offers the same basic design, while the Pro and Elite offer more cooking space and the Elite has an enclosed bottom to store grilling accessories. All three also use Traeger’s PAL accessory system so you can mix and match your accessories from other Traeger grills you might own.
The Woodridge Elite has the same size smoking area as the Pro — 970 square inches — but also has an additional 1,100-watt infrared burner on the side that can be used to add a char to your meats, cook your beans or heat up oil for frying, making it the most feature-packed of the three.
Several of Traeger’s grills have reached our best grills list over the years with high marks in quality and construction. In a statement, Traeger CEO Jeremy Andrus said, “When we set out to develop the Woodridge series, our goal was to bring as much quality and innovation as possible to price points accessible for every outdoor cook.”
The Woodridge and Woodridge Pro are available now at , while the Woodridge Elite is coming later “in the spring,” the company said.
