While it’s true that the Apple Watch Series 9 is no longer the latest model in Apple’s lineup, it’s still a great wearable with a ton of high-end features. The newer Apple Watch Series 10 took over as our pick for the best smartwatch on the market toward the end of 2024, but its arrival means that you can now find the older version at a discount. We’ve seen a few discounts in recent months with Walmart currently offering a 45mm Apple Watch Series 9 for just $279. We don’t know how long this clearance deal is going to last though, and we suspect that supplies are limited as well.
This model comes in a 45mm size with a midnight aluminum finish that works just as well in the gym or out on the town. You’ll also get a midnight sport band with the watch, although you can buy additional bands if you want to jazz things up a little. Looking for a fancier finish? Walmart is also offering the steel case in the 41mm size and with cellular connectivity for just $469, an $80 savings.

Why this deal matters
The Apple Watch Series 9 isn’t the newest model anymore but the differences between it and the newer Series 10 model aren’t huge. That means that for a lot of people, the older model is the better buy, especially if you can get one at the right price — and Walmart’s offering is $30 cheaper than the next best price at Best Buy. We don’t know how long Series 9 watches will remain available now that they are no longer being produced so time to get a brand new one might be running out.
