College football is different this year. Realignment means the Power 5 is really more like the Power 2. And the playoff is a genuine tournament this year, with eleven games spread over four rounds in the next month. For cord-cutters looking for streaming options to watch all the great matchups in between family outings and holiday sweets, Sling Orange is the best budget option, and was a CNET editor’s choice pick for best budget-friendly streaming service this year.

Can Colorado’s two-way Heisman favorite Travis Hunter light up the scoreboard in the Valero Alamo Bowl against BYU? What kind of receipts will his coach Deion Sanders be keeping after the game? And in the ReliaQuest Bowl between Michigan and Alabama, which of the two storied contenders will end the season on a high note? All those questions and more are going to be answered in the coming weeks.

A new, expanded college football bowl season

The addition of a first playoff round before bowl games adds an NFL-like twist to this year’s season. Clemson will face off against Texas in Austin. Indiana will take on Notre Dame in a midwest matchup in  South Bend. SMU will travel to Pennsylvania to battle Penn State, and Tennessee will head to their northern neighbor to play Ohio State in Columbus.

From there, the winners of the first round will play Boise State in the Fiesta Bowl, Arizona State in the Peach Bowl, Oregon in the Rose Bowl and Georgia in the Sugar Bowl. The tournament rounds out with the semi-finals on January 9-10 and the final on January 20.
