Samsung has unveiled a new Galaxy phone — albeit one that’s a little different from its others. The Galaxy XCover7 Pro is the company’s latest rugged phone, which is mainly geared toward enterprise users, though anyone can buy it. The follow-up to 2022’s XCover6 Pro packs new features like increased battery capacity, a more powerful processor and AI capabilities. It also supports seven years of software and security updates.
Samsung also debuted a new rugged tablet, the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro, which features a 120Hz refresh rate, AI features and eight years of OS and security updates.
The XCover7 Pro will be available on May 8, while the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro will be available in early June. Prices for both have yet to be announced due to uncertainty caused by President Donald Trump’s latest tariffs.
The devices can be an appealing option for shoppers looking to make a budget-conscious purchase and choose a device built to last, especially in tougher work environments like construction, manufacturing or the medical field. Samsung says the XCover7 Pro can handle a 1.5-meter drop, and the Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro can survive the same tumble with an accompanying cover. The gadgets prioritize ruggedness over thinness or sleekness, and are MIL-STD-810H certified, meaning they’ve undergone military-grade testing to ensure durability. Feature-wise, the XCover7 Pro ranks above the midrange Galaxy A series and below the premium Galaxy S series, according to Samsung.
Both devices share many of the same specs and upgrades, including enhanced speakers with anti-feedback noise reduction, higher volume and improved clarity. According to Samsung, a new feature called Vision Booster maximizes color and contrast, making it easier to see the displays even in bright sunlight. They can also respond to touch through gloves up to 2mm thick. Each device runs Android 15.
Here are the key attributes of the Galaxy XCover7 Pro and Galaxy Tab Active 5 Pro.
Galaxy XCover7 Pro
