If your front door still relies on a basic bell or, worse, a knock then today’s the day to level up. Best Buy is running a one-day Ring sale that slashes prices on a battery-powered doorbell that can smarten up basically any entryway. Amazon is matching prices, but Best Buy is the better bet if you want in-person collection and returns. Just note that the deal is only available today, Sept. 10.
The Ring Battery Doorbell is down to $50 in both silver and bronze color options, a $50 saving and a return to the record-low price we saw during July’s Prime Day sale. Silver is the classic Ring doorbell color, while the bronze adds a little personality to your porch.
While this base-level Ring doorbell doesn’t quite compete with the upgraded Plus or Pro version in terms of specs, CNET’s resident smart home expert Tyler Lacoma called it a “very competent” option in his list of the best Ring video doorbells, thanks to its HD video and competitive field of view. Its affordability is also a huge plus point — especially today — and head-to-toe video, two-way talk, motion alerts and package detection round out the feature set (some requiring a Ring Protect plan).
Hey, did you know? CNET Deals texts are free, easy and save you money.
If you’re starting from scratch, the Ring starter set is another option on sale today, down to $70 for the bundle. You get the same battery-powered doorbell plus a second-gen Ring Indoor Cam with color night vision and a privacy shutter. It’s a quick way to cover both your front door and a key room inside your home.

Why this deal matters
Ring cameras go on sale periodically throughout the year, but today’s prices match Prime Day, which is rare outside of a major shopping event. As well as a low price, the battery-powered doorbell offers a no-fuss installation and solid set of features for most users.
