There are massive amounts of Black Friday deals to watch this weekend, and that includes plenty of discounts on home security systems, especially for first-time buyers. But SimpliSafe, with its extra-DIY friendly, compact security kits, stands above the rest for the generous deals it’s offering right now, including 70% off any package you buy.

That means you could get the popular Lighthouse package with access sensors, a motion sensor and an outdoor camera, usually priced at $480, for only $144. Or the complete Haven package with its additional water and fire sensors, typically $530 but now $160 for Black Friday. This 70% off deal applies to any new SimpliSafe kit.

In my tests, I found the system not only easy to set up, but also compact enough to apply to even small areas or tiny windows, and easy to move around when necessary. The only major requirement for this deal is that you add a SimpliSafe professional monitoring plan to it, which start at around $30 per month.

That’s a seriously great deal for a cheap security system and even better if you really want low-cost professional monitoring for your home.

What else do you get?

SimpliSafe also throws in a new Outdoor Camera (if the kit already has one, you get two). This camera also enables some of the more advanced SimpliSafe monitoring capabilities, including guard services that can look out of your cams to watch for threats and facial recognition so the cameras automatically ignore familiar faces and other distractions.

Is a subscription totally necessary?

If you don’t have a full home security system or you’re looking for a meaningful upgrade and don’t mind paying a subscription, I highly recommend checking out this SimpliSafe deal. If a subscription is a dealbreaker, you should probably look elsewhere: SimpliSafe does offer basic functionality without paying anything, but it’s so limited we don’t recommend it.
