Labor Day is only a few days away, and retailers including Amazon, Best Buy, Walmart and Target are gearing up for the holiday weekend. Many retailers have already kicked off their Labor Day sales. From TVs and laptops to appliances and headphones, start scoring deals now and beat the weekend rush.

CNET’s shopping experts are tracking the best offers leading up to Labor Day and will keep updating our picks so you can grab the top bargains before they sell out.

Best Labor Day tech deals

Tech usually gets some of the best discounts during sales, and the Labor Day sales this year are no different. Whether you’ve been looking to get some back-to-school electronics for your kid or just replace your old beat-up tech around the house, our Labor Day picks include something for everyone. We’ve picked the best tech deals from top brands such as Apple and Samsung, with some great discounts on tablets and other electronics across major retailers.

Apple MacBook Air 13-inch M4 laptop: $799

Apple products are often on the expensive side but this Labor Day deal at Amazon will save you $200 off the latest 13-inch MacBook Air. This model comes equipped with Apple’s M4 chip, 16GB RAM and 256GB of storage space. It’s also one of our favorite laptops right now.

Anker 20W USB-C iPhone 15 charger (2-pack): $12

Anker’s excellent USB-C charger combo will let you top off your iPhone at fast speeds. The pack includes everything you need to get started, including fast-charging USB-C cables. The two-pack enables you to keep a charger at home and one at the office. Better still, the charger has both USB-A and USB-C ports, which lets you use it with an array of new or old accessories.

Apple iPad 11-inch (10th generation): $299

Apple’s 10th-gen iPad packs enough power for everyday multimedia consumption and casual browsing, making it a great affordable choice. There’s ample performance here for casual gamers, and the iPad fits seamlessly within the Apple ecosystem, making it a great addition if you’re already using Apple products.

Sonos Roam 2 speaker: $139

The Sonos Roam 2 is a great speaker. It’s made with precision-engineered drivers to give you clear sound and a deep bass. It also has the ability to automatically optimize and fine-tune the sound depending on your environment. And now it’s down to a record low price.

This entry-level Kindle is easy to carry around at 0.3 pounds and is made with a 300 ppi 6-inch E Ink display. It’s the smallest and lightest Kindle to date. Plus, Amazon is also throwing in three months of Kindle Unlimited for free, a $36 value.

Roku streaming stick HD: $20

The Roku Streaming Stick boasts HD visuals giving you a super high quality picture. It’s also pretty fast, meaning you won’t have to wait around for your show to finally load. Plus its slim design ensures it won’t block other ports on your TV.

More of the best deals in tech:

Blink Video Doorbell: $40

The Blink Video Doorbell is a great affordable option. It gives you head-to-toe coverage in full HD so you can see everything going on outside your door. And the field of view is 135 degrees, not bad at all. The battery runs for up to two years at a time, so you won’t have to worry about replacing it for a good while. Plus, it has two-way voice communications so you can talk to whoever’s at the door.

The Shark Navigator Lift-Away vacuum has advanced swivel steering so you can get around your furniture and corners. It also includes extended reach, so you can get all the way up to your ceilings. It also comes with a dusting brush and a crevice tool.

The Dyson Cool AM07 tower fan is our favorite tower fan upgrade of the year. We love it because it has 10 speed options and is energy efficient. It also has smart home support, provides a comfortable airflow and even has sensors for air quality and more.

Best Labor Day retailer sales

Amazon: One of the biggest online retailers is going all-in on the Labor Day discounts with significant savings on tech, home appliances and smart home equipment.

Walmart: Save big on appliances like televisions, refrigerators, laptops and more at Walmart’s early Labor Day sale.

The Home Depot: Eyeing home improvement tools? Home Depot has the best discounts on tools, appliances and even grills.

Casper: If you’ve been on the lookout for a new mattress, Casper is offering 35% off its entire line. In fact, there’s a 30% discount across the website, so you might want to take a look even if you’re not in the market for a new mattress.

Best Buy: Shop incredible Labor Day deals on laptops, headphones, televisions and more.

Which Labor Day sales are the best?

There are plenty of competing Labor Day sales and deciding which is best for you will depend on what you’re hoping to buy.

Amazon, Best Buy and Walmart are generally good starting points if tech and smart home purchases are on your mind. If home and garden products are what you need, start with stores like Lowe’s, Home Depot and Overstock.

Don’t rule out more niche retailers, such as B&H Photo, Dell, HP and GameStop, though, if their Labor Day promotions suit your needs. You can also shop direct at your favorite brands for Labor Day deals.

When do Labor Day sales start?

Labor Day 2025 falls on Monday, Sept. 1, but not all sales begin and end on that date. Many sales are already starting to go live, especially mattresses. Other retailers are starting to drop prices as well, but we expect to see Labor Day sales officially kick off a few days before the holiday. We also expect sales to extend through the week after Labor Day. We’ll be monitoring sales to help you nab the most savings.

Should I wait for Black Friday sales?

Labor Day sales offer some of the best savings at this time of year, sitting nicely between Memorial Day sales and Black Friday. If you need something now, particularly furniture or yard equipment, Labor Day is a great time to buy, with end-of-summer pricing applying to a lot of those products.

Black Friday is the biggest sale of the year, though, and if you can afford to wait the extra couple of months, you could potentially get more for your money. That being said, rumors abound of a second Prime Day sale or “Prime Early Access Sale” slated for October, which could kick off the holiday shopping season much earlier and may mean even less time between Labor Day and fall sales.

How do I make the most of Labor Day sales?

Before diving into Labor Day sales, narrow down exactly what is on your shopping list this year. That way, you can identify the best retailers to start your search and avoid being distracted by the thousands of deals that will bombard you as you explore the Labor Day sales.

The CNET Deals team will keep you up to date on the best deals this Labor Day and beyond, so be sure to follow the team on X and sign up for the CNET Deals newsletter.
