Apple may be preparing to roll out updated MacBook Pros sooner than expected. A report from Bloomberg’s Power On newsletter seems to confirm rumors that M5 Pro and M5 Max models will soon be available, along with a software update, MacOS 26.3.

According to the report, the laptops would retain their design but sport faster processors. MacOS 26.3 is likely to be released sometime in February or March, and as Bloomberg notes, supplies of higher-end MacBook Pro models have been tightening up for shoppers.

A representative for Apple did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

As with the M4 generation of MacBook Pro processors, the laptops equipped with the Pro and Max processors will be geared more toward those who perform processing-intensive tasks such as video editing or 3-D rendering. The Pro and Max versions of Apple’s processors feature more CPU/GPU cores and higher memory bandwidth. They’ll also likely come with a notable price increase compared to the standard M5 processor.

The first M5 MacBook Pros were released late last year. A new design for the MacBook Pro isn’t expected until 2027.
